We are very excited to have Ruth Lapoli Merriman as our speaker. She is the manager of the International Research Consultation Unit at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Ms. Merriman has worked for the Family History Department for over 25 years. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in English and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science and spent over 20 years cataloging Italian books and films. She is an accredited Italian genealogist and loves to help others find their ancestors. Ruth has a very understanding husband, four sons, two daughters-in-law, and as of this writing in November 2010, she has one grandson in the making.

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM	Reading Italian Church and Civil Records, Part 1 This two part class deals with a very important problem ... once we find those records, how on earth do we read them? We will examine how to decipher the handwriting, where to look in the record for the important information, and what key terms we need to know to correctly identify our ancestors and their vital information.
10:45 AM - 11:45 AM	Reading Italian Church and Civil Records, Part 2

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM	Italian Research on the Internet Gone are the days of not having anything to search online as far as Italian genealogy is concerned. More is popping up every day and we will look at some of the most exciting and useful sites.
2:45 PM - 3:45 PM	Italian Marriage Records - More Than You Think So you found a marriage date - is that the end of it? Certainly not. We're going to discuss the supplemental marriage records and what a gold mine of information they can be. Generations can be discovered in these pages that so often go unnoticed.
3:45 PM - 4:00 PM	Question and Answer Session Have questions that weren't addressed during the lectures? Ask them here!
